SIBBECAI, SIBBECHAI*

Zerahite from the town of Hushah and one of David’s “mighty men” (1 Chr 11:29; 20:4; 27:11). He is credited with killing the giant Saph when Israel fought Philistia at Gob (2 Sm 21:18). In 2 Samuel 23:27 he is called Mebunnai, probably a later erroneous reading of the original.
