1. Alternate name for Shammah, Jesse’s third son, in 1 Chronicles 2:13 and 20:7. See Shammah #2.

2. David’s son borne to him by Bathsheba during his reign in Jerusalem (1 Chr 3:5). He is called Shammua in 2 Samuel 5:14 and 1 Chronicles 14:4.

3. Uzzah’s son, the father of Haggiah and a descendant of Levi through Merari’s line (1 Chr 6:30).

4. Gershonite Levite, Michael’s son, the father of Berekiah, and the grandfather of Asaph. Asaph, with Heman and Ethan, was appointed by David to lead the musicians before the sanctuary (1 Chr 6:39).
