Town described in the book of Judith as being near Dothan on a hill overlooking the plain of Esdraelon (Jdt 4:6; 6:11). Nebuchadnezzar’s general, Holofernes, tried to bring Bethulia into submission by controlling its water sources (Jdt 7:6-7).
