ADAM (Place)

City on the Jordan River. When Joshua led the Israelites across the river, the stretch of riverbed from this city to the Dead Sea dried up miraculously so the people could cross on dry land (Jos 3:16). Adam is identified with modern Tell ed-Damiyeh.
